David Rodriguez Caballero
David Rodríguez Caballero (1970), graduated in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country (1995), has lived in New York since 2011.
The work of David Rodríguez Caballero has been exhibited in galleries, museums and public institutions around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow (Russia), the Würth Museum in La Rioja, the Museo de Navarra, the Fundación Oteiza Museum and other institutions in Europe, Monaco, Miami and New York (United States). In 2012, Marlborough Gallery New York organized his first solo exhibition in Manhattan, Recent Works, at its Chelsea headquarters, which was a critical and public success.
He has participated in the most important art fairs in the world, such as Art Basel Miami and Art Basel Hong-Kong, KIAF in Seoul, MACO in Mexico, ARCO of Madrid, Dallas Artfair, Art Rio de Janeiro, Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair and Armory Show of New York. He has also been awarded the First International Prize for Engraving Bodegas Dinastía Vivanco (La Rioja, 2008), First Prize of the IX Mostra Colección Unión Fenosa (Unión Fenosa Museum of Contemporary Art, 2006), First Prize for Painting Volksbank Paderborn (Paderborn, Germany, 1996) and First Prize for Painting Pamplona Young Artists (Pamplona, 1995), among others.
His work is present in numerous international collections, such as Repsol, the Coca-Cola Foundation, the Würth Museum (La Rioja), the Dinastía Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture, the Unión Fenosa Museum of Contemporary Art (MACUF), the Patio Herreriano Museum, the National Library, Pamplona City Hall, Palace of the Popes (Viterbo, Italy), Volksbang Foundation (Paderborn, Germany), Museo de Navarra, National Institute of Statistics, and the ISE Cultural Foundation (New York/Tokyo).
The artist has published several monographic books in recent years; the first of them, written by IVAM curator Marta Arroyo, is Cinco Maneras (published by the Pamplona City Council on the occasion of its exhibition at the Ciudadela de Pamplona), in which they present the five lines of work carried out between 1998 and 2006: plexiglass, aluminum, origami, vinyl and enamel. The second, Conversations with Navarrese artists: David Rodríguez Caballero (in charge of the Government of Navarra), is a compendium of the sculptor's artistic career, which articulates a wide graphic display of his work framed within the plot pattern of conversations guided by the Professor of Art History Kosme de Barañano.
